Swingin’, jivin’, and soulful mashups.

It's a day early, but I wanted to point out again that "bastard pop" need not incorporate a contemporary pop hit.

Jackson 5 vs. Herb Alpert- I Want Bittersweet Samba Back

emily sears posted a link to a picture of a number of LPs, including the "Whipped Cream & Other Delights" album that "Bittersweet Samba" is featured on, and so I hope you hipsters and swingin' cats dig this groovy mashup.  The YouTube user that posted the vid didn't know the name of the Herb Alpert tune, so I titled it the best I could in the fashion that is pretty typical for mashups.

On the subject of older material, Simon Iddol (best known for his WHA?! compilation series) produced an album in that series called "Forgotten Hits".  Just for my laziness and convenience, I'll link to "The Forgotten Groove" here, although I suspect that ES may find "Dream On Lazy Soul" more to her liking (yes, as it uses a recent Depeche Mode track, and yes, I like it too).

EDIT: Ok, I'll relent:

Although Simon Iddol recently moved to a new website, all the goods for "Forgotten Hits" is all right here.  My link to "The Forgotten Groove" is from, and their review for the compilation can be found here.
