JJQ #75: The Most Wonderful Thing

I asked Cimmy to serve up a standard JJQ to break up the stream of “Affirmations from my therapist” posts I’ve been doing at this blog regularly.

jak & Cimmy's Journal Jar

“Tell about the most wonderful thing that ever happened to you.”

Ooh!  This one’s a toughie. Let’s see…

Sunday School smilesOur wedding dayI could tell you about how I met my sweetheart at a church function and how we dated and were eventually married in the Bellevue Washington Temple.  Even though it was raining on that day, it was pretty wonderful.  I got to wear a wedding dress made for me by a dear friend of mine in a beautiful building where I was sealed for time and eternity to my very best friend in the whole world other than Jesus Christ.  Yeah, I could talk about that.  It was pretty wonderful, especially considering our 17th anniversary is coming up in December.  So I guess it would make sense for me to talk about that.

Fortune Cookie Ponderings

Please give Cimmy some blog love. She hasn’t been writing as much lately (been more into gaming)

jak & Cimmy's Journal Jar

The other day following a dinner at one of the local Chinese Buffets, the cookie following my meal had an interesting fortune.  It said  “You long to own your own home and family is all important to you,” or something similar to that.  My husband, jaklumen, suggested I write a post on it.  So here I am tapping away at the buttons of my keyboard, trying to come up with something you might find interesting or that might, at least, perk your interest.  Personally, I’m not sure how interesting you’ll find philosophical discussions with regards to fortune cookie inserts.  Still, it’s worth a shot, right?

So, my family lives in a home that we aren’t renting.  Still, technically, we don’t own it.  It’s under mortgage, a payment that jak pays every month without fail.  The main reason we bought are buying the house in which…

jak & Cimmy’s sweet 16

jak & Cimmy's Journal Jar

Today, we’ve been married for 16 years.

Cimmy got the right idea real quick.  Both of our wedding bands broke, and she wanted to wear a ring again.  So she went to Wallyworld and found an eternity style band that fit her right away.

When we went out on a date to do some shopping (we take time when we can get it, okay?) we stopped by Wal’s jewelry department so I could get an updated size of my ring finger.  Oh dear.  14 1/2, and of course they didn’t have any rings that size.  (Cheap manufacturers will often refer that as a thumb ring size, to boot.)

So I went to Amazon and eBay.  It took me a while, but I found something evocative, but in a grey metal color (silver matches my blue-veined skin better than gold):

Yes, this image is from the seller I bought it from…

jak & Cimmy's Journal Jar

From the four walls that currently surround you to the infinite potential of space, this week we’d like you to show us your take on room, rooms, or a room.

Our house has a family room that originally was a garage.  It had very few places to sit.

But in all our years of marriage, we just found modern couches too easily wrecked and destroyed.  As our son Boy got older, we needed to have something that would hold up.

We got lucky and chanced on a Craigslist ad for some outdoor patio furniture that the manager of a storage rental was selling, and for a nice price.  We figured if the cushions ever got destroyed, replacing them would be an easy matter.

Princess photobombs the family room I’d say she’s a ham, but hams can be cured.

What’s your Valentine’s story?

Today’s prompt comes from the WP Weekly writing challenge: Weekly Writing Challenge: My Funny Valentine?

First, the MASHUP:

Then, the photo:

12 roses for 12 years 2nd shot

Now, the story:

Our wedding anniversary is on December 12th.  Sometimes, it gets eaten up in the Christmas fervor.  In 2010, we had a church Christmas dinner on the 12th.  While Cimmorene said she was fine with attending a ward Christmas dinner on our anniversary (and we did), I didn’t think this was sufficient.

So come February, I decided I needed to make up for it.  I figured I would act early, and beat the Valentine’s Day rush.  On a whim, I stopped in to the local Just Roses flower shop, and asked for 12 white short-stemmed roses, in a vase.  They had such on hand.  Wow.  I told one of the florists, as she was ringing up my purchase, “If I do this right, she’ll…

He’s reminded us that the publisher has asked for linkbacks to the 365 blog, and that there are some easy ways to spread the word about the project.

1. Please see the SHARE YOUR PROJECT page on the 365 blog.

2. You’ll see on that page there are some very cool eye-catching badges:
