Flight time October 22, 2010 (Aerial dreams)

Early yesterday morning, I dreamed… of wind. Of kite flying.

When I woke up, and looked out my window, there was wind. So I went kite flying.

I did not have the opportunity to take photos. So I hope this photo at the eBay auction I bought it at will suffice:

I think I’ve got a great lifter kite now.  And that’s precisely what I did that afternoon– put it up in the sky with a load of line laundry.  But I could feel I was pushing my limits with the bright yellow fluorescent 30-lb. twine line I was using, not to mention I got a bad tangle when a handle came off (Gayla thought it was a good idea to make a stake winder with removable handles– go figure).

I also had to rush home quickly after an hour to make up a meeting with Social Security (was supposed to be at 13:30, wound up being at 14:30).

Hopefully there shall be good pictures tomorrow.  There will be good wind, if the rain doesn’t come first.

    • Sadly, the wind died on Saturday, and came back with gale force today, with winds gusting up to 35 MPH. That kind of speed is much too dangerous for most kiters. The buggy and boarder (grass, sand, sea or snow) kiters might flirt with it, but any of the rest of us.

Tomorrow is supposed to be the same, but we’ll see.

  2. That is a gorgeous kite. (It also vaguely reminds me of some character on Comedy Central, but I don’t remember who.)
