Flight time July 22nd, 2010: Line laundry

Two trips today, actually.  I'll call the first one a practice run, and the second one was when I could get some help with some photos.

A small selection of those shots are as follows:

The first two shots were taken by my daughter and the third I took, as she still has a difficult time with aerial shots.

Wherever you see "jaklumen", that's me- the username is still unique as of the current year. Be aware that the facet you see, is only a small part of the me that is me.

  1. I love that last shot! All of the kites are on the same line? That is impressive.Princess is getting good at taking pictures.

  2. Wow….so impressive and very cool looking. I didn't even know you could fly more than one kite on the same line. Very colorful!!

  3. Princess is getting good at taking pictures.I'll tell her you said so. The full set is at Flickr (same nickname as here), although I did not save her half dozen shots of a hole in a chain-linked baseball diamond backstop.

  4. I didn't even know you could fly more than one kite on the same line.Oh yeah. Greg Greger told me how it's done; you just tie them off every 2 feet or so. A simple lark head's knot works fine for easy tying and untying. This is usually done with kites of the same design so you get a train-looking effect. I'm sure it's done quite frequently at kite festivals. Typically, the kites are single line, although Prism sells a 5 stack of its Nexus kites. The 5 stack is usually flown with ribbon tails in different colors of the rainbow. At some point I'll see if I can find a video of it (pretty sure they've put up a clip of it from an instructional video of theirs).

  5. I was thinking they probably did all that fancy stuff at the kite festivals. What great photo ops those would be!!

  7. I will save more of her pictures in the future, then. I've added you as a Flickr contact; I hope you don't mind. I started including initials and nicknames for photos that were not taken by me, so if you view my photostream, you'll see more she's taken. We have an extra camera that she could use whenever she likes but she's been rather unhappy that it doesn't have a monitor on the back like the PowerShot, which we have let her use under supervision.

  8. Oh! It turns out I didn't delete those pictures after all. I saved a few of the best shots and I'm uploading them to my photostream right now.
