This was a taste of goth punk before it really hit it big.

Yes, this is a cover.  I don't much care for the original– can you blame me?  I remember when it was still blowin' up on MTV.

    Banarama was an object of mirth back in the day. (One of the guys in the shop used to substitute the word 'penis' for 'venus'.) But I always liked this one.

    It's my opinion that the original would largely be forgotten if this cover hadn't hit it big. I don't know if the video made it on to any "top" lists (I suspect most were compiled by Viacom execs anyways), but it sure is a great example of how eye-popping vids were in the '80s. It sure burned a place in my brain, anyways.
