Journal Jar: Memories of adolescent rebellion

Another photo from Christmas 2009's "A Year of Love":

It was a cold and snowy winter in Rexburg, ID in 1992 at what was then Ricks College when the dormmate combing my hair in the picture told me, "You need a haircut."  I protested that I had very recently had one, but he insisted.  So I decided that I'd get a haircut that wouldn't need cutting for a while.  He didn't do it; another dormmate by the nickname of "GQ" cut my hair.  This photo is just one picture my roommate took of the results.

Some wanted me to stiffen it up into a mohawk, but I declined.  Needless to say, the Dean of Students was not amused.

Wherever you see "jaklumen", that's me- the username is still unique as of the current year. Be aware that the facet you see, is only a small part of the me that is me.

  1. Hahahahaha….you look so young there. What did you parents say, or was it all grown out by they time they saw it??

  2. I can't recall much beyond them thinking I was weird. I'm sure it was the right combination of too long and too short. But then my mom is weird– she and my sister both have this thing with fondling my hair. More information than you probably ever wanted to know, I'm sure. (I'm still unsure if "stop groping my head" gets the results I want.)
