This little microswitch (the two pictures are of each side) was what was causing the problem. It took me 2-3 e-mails to be forwarded to a HanaHo technician and then explain to said tech that it was not a software problem, but a hardware one. No worries, though– I have done tech support before and sometimes it takes a while to get a problem described sufficiently.
The replacement came by UPS earlier today and after I got it put in, everything works fine now.
