  1.  to be afraid of :  dread

I don’t think I can express to you all how personal this is, how… I can’t. I don’t seem to be able to express how much this is moving me without seeing who is ready and willing to dig down in a much more esoteric way. (The Hero With A Thousand Faces)

Ugh, I’m sorry you’re sick. I hate being sick. I would be the character in a zombie apocalypse movie that survives all of the slashing and biting and then dies of indigestion. (Aussa Lorens, Cross Examination: HOOKER, in comments section)

FUNK LEVEL 4

  1. music that combines elements of rhythm and blues and soul music and that is characterized by a percussive vocal style, static harmonies, and a strong bass line with heavy downbeats

  1. Does one have to work their way through the levels of Funk to reach the true Funkitude of Funk Level 4?

    • Sorry my reply came so late– your comment got caught in the Akismet filter for some reason.

Hahahha… no, I don’t think it’s necessary. This was simply my tongue-in-cheek interpretation of the last Trifecta challenge Matticus mentioned on his blog, boosted by some online and offline inspirations. I’m also a bit of a linguistics nerd, so I’m fascinated by these definitions. Mirriam-Webster’s fourth definition loops back to the first, actually– many funk musicians, including James Brown, alternately used the word “stank” (“put some stank on it!”) in their lyrics, which definitely refers to that first definition.

  2. I can dig it, yes.
Well done. I’m a fan of the 3-2-1… though, right now it’s more the 2-3-1. 2 hours of sleep, that’s all the Little Prince likes us to get at any given point. 3 good meals to fuel through the rest of the waking hours. 1 shower – because, babies are messy. 😛

Jak created his own mix tape around my response to the Trifecta Challenge from this week, and a few other inspirations. It’s worth checking out. Go forth and make it so.
